Missing Teeth

The loss of a tooth can cause oral and general health concerns, it can also have an impact on your confidence and self-esteem.

Some consequences that can result from losing a tooth include:

  • Adjacent teeth on either side of the space and opposing teeth can move out of alignment and become crooked.
  • Bite and jaw alignment problems may develop.
  • When adjacent teeth move, they may tip over into the space formed by the missing tooth. This makes them harder to clean and they are at a higher risk of decay and gum disease.
  • Your tooth root helps to maintain jawbone density, gum health and facial muscle tone. When they are missing, your bone and gum can recede.
